1 Week: Baby Kenley at Home
Hello world!
Tomorrow, Kenley is one week old! You can tell things have been going well by the fact that I have time to sit down, download pictures, and blog!
Things here have been going relatively well, with a small hiccup. We haven't quite gotten the breast feeding situation down yet, and Kenley actually dropped a bit too much weight from her birth weight, although with the help of our amazing lactation consultant, we now have things under control. She gained back 3 ounces since yesterday and is now eating, sleeping and making diapers like a champ. Everything checked out ok at our appointment with the pediatrician yesterday and today. Michael and I have worked out a pretty good routine that allows us to fit in a relatively good amount of sleep between feedings every three hours, so although we are tired we are not zombies.
Kenley is amazing - she is generally happy to eat and sleep and spend some time checking out the world - she rarely cries and is sweet and snuggly. We also think she is the cutest baby around - although we are of course biased.
My mom "Bebe" (Kenley's name for her) was thankfully able to extend her visit through next week. She has been a HUGE help and has kept us all relatively clean and fed in addition to helping us every step of the way. We have joked that it takes all three of us to take care of the baby, so we call ourselves "Team Kenley." Aunt Michal and Uncle Jason have also been over regularly to help and get bonding time - Thanks Michal and Jason!
Here are some photos of some of our activities this week!
