5 Months + 1 week - Our little "Sweet Potato Pie"

Hi everyone! As you probably know, Mom and Dad (and everyone else in DC) got quite a bit of snow this weekend! Here's what 24 inches at mom and dad's house in Maryland looks like.

Meanwhile, here's what Seattle looked like!

Kenley even had to bust out her sunglasses for our walk at Greenlake! (Ok, they were silly and we didn't wear them very long. But its a funny picture).

Family photo.

"Hello daddy!" Kenley loves walking at Greenlake. Little miss chatterbox decided to squeak and yell the whole time at the folks walking by, drawing more than one stare.

In news for this week, Kenley's first week at daycare was a great success! Her teachers say she did great with very little fussing. Drop offs and pick ups went smoothly, and once the teachers got into the feeding schedule, everything went just as we'd hoped. Kenley seems to love spending her days with the other babies, and has lots to say during the car ride home (squeak squeak squeak). On Friday, she was napping when I arrived to pick her up, so I spent about a half hour just observing. The three oldest babies (11-12 mos) were having a goldfish cracker snack, and I was very happy to see them all using sign language to ask for more crackers and tell Miss Bri that they were finished and ready to get down from the high chairs. After snack, they zoomed around, showing me all their favorite toys. Between all the eating, walking, and funny two front teeth, its hard to believe kenley will be like that in a few short months!

Speaking of teeth, we think kenley is either going through a growth spurt or maybe getting ready for teeth, because we have seen a ton of drool, a lot of sleeping (1-2 hour naps! wow!), and less eating than before.

Finally, Kenley tried her first non-cereal real food this weekend! First vegetable - sweet potato! Here's a video about her first munch!

Happy 5 Months Kenley!

Kenley turned five months old on Thursday, Jan 28! Wow! Food, daycare, lots of changes. Can't blog much, we are pretty tired due to kenley's new trick - waking up at 6 am!

Here are some photos!

Suddenly lots of drooling ......................... you know what that means

Here's our string of pictures with Kenley next to her pink teddy so we can see how much she has grown. Click here to see the photos from 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months and 2 months.

Now here we are at 5 months! It was hard to get her to hold still!

This shot shows you how long she is getting!

Here's is a video of her new noises - lots of really noisy yelling and squawking.

Finally got it on video!

Day Care and Cereal!

Big day today! Kenley went to her first half day at daycare, and it went great! The teachers reported that she did well, had no major freak outs, napped, ate, etc! She was instantly mesmorized by the five babies waiting for us at the door when we got there - all baby girls! Kenley is the youngest so I'm sure they'll teach her all kinds of trouble.

Here's daddy getting ready to say goodbye!

Here's where we left Kenley - playing with this awesome gym! She certainly seemed happy when we left. When Michael picked her up at 130, she was happily doing tummy time and had a big smile for him when she saw him! Then they came home and she took a two hour nap - probably the longest nap she's ever taken! She was worn out! So we are relieved and thrilled that she seemed to like it. Another half day on Friday and then full time on Monday! Daddy is sad he won't be spending full days with her anymore, but will also enjoy going back to work full time.

In other news, we also decided it was time for Kenley to eat some solid food (many changes in one day)! After being a super sleeper, she started waking up again in the night multiple times for food. Although we had hoped to hold out until the recommended 6 months, we decided we couldn't wait any longer (ok, really Rachel couldn't wait)! So here's Kenley's first "meal" - a little rice cereal mixed with breastmilk! Not sure how much of it actually got inside the baby, but it wasn't bad for a first try.

4 Months + 4 Weeks

Not a lot to report this weekend, although we had some complaints filed that we don't have enough videos on the blog, so at the bottom of the post is a video of some random funny things we got on camera. The baby learned this week to make a plbbbbb noise with her lips, which you'll see in the video (in the segment where she is also crying).

Big development: We decided to start Kenley in day care a few days early in order to ease the transition. She is starting this week! She will go probably for half days Wednesday and Friday. We have been busy filling out forms, buying gear, and labeling all her stuff in anticipation of the next day.

Also big news: Kristin and Justin Friesen are expecting their second, due September 9! Another almost-cousin type friend for Kenley to play with! Congrats to Team Friesen!

Here she is loaded up with toys in her swing, having a great time!

Just waking up from a nap!

4 Months + 3 Weeks - Happy MLK Day!

Hi everyone! We had a fun weekend of visiting, with Kelsey and Charles on Friday and Shaina and Jon on Saturday, plus an engagement party celebration for Shaina and Jon on Sunday! Today was deliciously sunny so while Daddy traveled for work, Kenley and I went for two works, played on a quilt in the backyard, and had coffee with Sheila! My favorite part of the day was when I finally got to hear Kenley's full on laugh, which she normally does only for her daddy while I am at work. I was tickling her in the backyard and she was laughing up a storm! What a silly bugger. She has two new tricks - one is she is experimenting with her mouth and sticking her tongue out all the time, which is really funny. She also is suddenly fascinated with the cat. She loves to "pet" him - although more than once I have found a wad of cat fur in her fist after petting the kitty! He is a very good sport and so far has not complained.

Thanks Great Aunt Gail for my super cute sailboat outfit!! Brings out the blue in my eyes.

4 months + 2 weeks - Kenley rolls over!

Hi Everyone!

We visited with baby friends this weekend - here are Jillian, Kenley, Avery, and Parker!! Everyone has gotten so big! Thanks to Katy and Marcus for Kenley's super cute outfit!

And big news - Kenley rolled over! The first time she did it was on Friday night. I was making dinner and Michael was working on his laptop while Kenley played on a quilt on the floor. I came back into the living room and said - did you just turn Kenley onto her tummy? She had totally rolled over while we were not looking!!! Of course. She did it quite a few more times this weekend, including in the night - she was on her tummy when Michael went to get her this morning. I caught it on video yesterday! [VIDEO BELOW!]

video

Now she wants to crawl. She doesn't want to stay on her back so she rolls over to her tummy, hangs out for a second, and then starts getting frustrated. One time she actually propelled herself forward with her toes to get a toy! Mom and Dad say - oh crap!! She'll be zooming around before we know it.

Other than that, we had a great weekend, we took down all of our christmas gear (boo hoo), hung out with some people, went for some walks, and spent a lot of time at home with Kenley. A great weekend!
