10 Weeks!

Kenley was 10 weeks old on Friday! We have had some pretty stormy weather so we haven't been up to anything too exciting.
Here's Kenley watching the world series with her daddy!

We all went out for a walk despite the bad weather!

On Saturday we celebrated "cousin" Jack Friesen's 3rd birthday party! Kenley learned how great birthdays can be - presents and friends and cakes!

And party hats!

Thanks Kendra and Dee for the super cute ducky dress Kenley showed off at the party!

Love to you all!

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone had a great halloween! Kenley dressed as a "Peanut" M&M, of course! Aunt Michal made her a super cute costume, with a little help from Rachel. We had a busy day celebrating!

On Friday, we attended Michal's classroom halloween party. Here she is with Kenley in costume. The kids LOVED meeting "Baby Kenley!!!!"

We did a little fall photo shoot. Thank you Kendra and Dee for the "i love my mummy" shirt!!

For our first party, we went to our Centering friends Ali and Andy's house in Ballard to celebrate with our baby friends. Here's a photo of Ali and Jillian the Lion!

Kenley's baby friends! Clockwise: Kenley (Peanut M&Ms), Jillian (lion), Avery (Pumpkin), Sawyer (Colorful worm?), Parker (Pea Pod), and new friend Hannah (Polar Bear). Friend Parker is finally off his oxygen! Very exciting!

Peanut loves being a Peanut M&M!

After we visited with baby friends, we headed up to Mill Creek to celebrate with the Friesens. Here are Kenley and Jack preparing to trick or treat!

Thanks for making me an awesome costume Aunt Michal!

We moved the costume to a baby bjorn decoration. Here we are trick or treating, rain or no rain! Kenley will be a true Northwesterner!

Aunt Michal and Uncle Jason's beautiful halloween dinner table!

I love Aunt Michal!

Happy 2 Month Birthday Kenley

Happy 2 months Kenley! Our little Peanut seems like hardly a Peanut anymore - See these shots showing how big she has gotten!

2 weeks

2 months

Today we took Kenley to the doctor for her two month check up. She is now 23 inches long and 10 pounds 14 ounces. She is in the 76th percentile for height, 52nd for weight, and 81st for head circumference. Kenley also got her shots - 3 pokes and an oral vaccine! She definitely did not have fun - her screaming reached a volume and pitch we have not yet heard from her - but after some cuddles and a snack at the boob we managed to leave the office without any tears. So far she has been a little quicker to cry than normal and doesn't want to be put down but other than that seems fine. We expect her to be out of sorts for a few days. Here is a picture from our appointment, although this crying was actually before the shots! :)

Other than that, Kenley continues to be the cutest, smartest, sweetest baby we have ever seen. She has almost mastered rolling from tummy to her back, although sometimes she forgets that she knows how to do it. I think she is starting to work on rolling from back to front - she can wiggle her legs to get to her side, she now just needs to complete the process. She has started to wiggle around - last night I found her in a different place in her bassinette than where I left her! We get in quality tummy time every day, which she doesn't like that much but she is developing some good head and neck control. We also finally bought a "playmat," which hangs a bunch of toys over her head. She has been chattering quite a bit, but seems to enjoy talking to the animals and toys hanging over her head while moving her arms and legs constantly. I included a video of her chatter and noises below. We think she also talks to her feet in the bath and in the car. We are now working on teaching her to "bat" at toys - Michael just told me as I was writing this that she is batting at a toy they are playing with and that she is definitely going to be very smart. :)

She loves going out and about, so we put her in either our sleepy wrap or our baby bjorn, and we cruise Greenlake or our neighborhood or go shopping. Her favorite part of the day is definitely the bath, which we do every night before bed - she can spend as much as 45 minutes just splashing around, waving her arms and kicking her feet. She only cries when it is time to get out! Then comes bedtime - she is pretty good at putting herself to sleep sometime around 9:00 or 10:00pm. She regularly sleeps all night long, normally waking up twice at 2:00am and 5:00am, and often just once at 5:00am or so.

I've been trying to catch a photo of her smile, here are a few attempts, and some other fun pics - and a video!

8 Weeks!

Hi everyone! Here is our 8 weeks plus a few days post - we have been too busy to blog! Kenley and I did a lot of visiting this week, including a doctor's appointment, lunch with the clerks from my office, first knitting group meeting, and a long playdate with Parker and Jillian (and their mommas), etc. On Saturday we took Kenley to her first political event. She met the Seattle political scene and showed off the cute acorn (not a political statement) dress Aunt Michal bought her. The best part was when she talked to us (or maybe actually to her feet) all the way to the event in the car - she is getting to be a serious chatterbox (runs in the family)! Today we drove to Redmond and visited with Mark, Lisa, Maggie, and Rachel Thomas while Michael got a day off watching football with the boys. Phew - we are all exhausted.

Kenley was 8 weeks old on Friday - on Wednesday we go for our two month check up and we can't wait to see what she weighs! We'll update you all then!

7 Weeks: Portland Trip - Meeting the Brehms

This weekend we went to Portland to spend some quality time with Great Grandma Dorothy and meet some Brehms! We fit in quite a bit of visiting and of course oo'ing and ah'ing. It is now a general consensus that Kenley is the cutest baby ever - or at least since Jake was a baby. We visited with Elie, Theresa, Lucy, David, Jake, and Josie, Chris, Chris and Noah, and Pam Jacobsen! Elie and Grandma also watched the baby so Josie and I could go see Jake play in his varsity soccer game - we arrived just in time to see Jake score and then watch Wilson beat Lincoln 2-1! Go Trojans! We also happened to be at Lucy and David's house when Rike called to read me my letter telling me I passed the bar!! We ate thai food in celebration! We had a chance to visit Aunt Chris and give her baby kisses to make her get well quickly. We also visited friends Michael, Michelle, and Melissa on our way out of town. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend - here are some photos and videos!

Here's a little Babushka from Annetefka (otherwise known as Josie on her way to a sing along Fiddler on the Roof)!

And here is a tour of the family members we visited with!!

Kenley decided Great Grandma and Grandpa Brehm are pretty cool, here is a video of her telling them all about it.

Kenley and Aunt Lucy bonded over their agreement that diapers unfairly restrict babies. Lucy won Kenley's heart by letting her squirm for as long as she wanted with no diaper. Here's the video of their conversation on the subject!
