13 Months: Doctors Visit, Football, Pumpkin Patch!

Image
Hi all! I skipped a week of blogging, so I have a lot to write about!! First of all, we went to Kenley's one year ped appointment two weeks ago. She looks good - although a little on the small side! She now weighs 19.4 pounds (23%) and is 28.5 inches tall (31%). She got approximately one million shots and cried a lot. But she was very brave, and so was Mommy, who had to go alone while Daddy worked (and get her own flu shot). The next day (last Saturday), we headed to Grandpa Bert's house to watch football and cook veggies. Here are Kenley and Grandpa wearing their matching husky outfits. And watching football. Then since Michael was out of town, Kenley and I stayed at Michal and Jason's house and Grandpa babysat her (for the first time) the next day so Michal and I could go to the theater! All was successful, Kenley slept a ton and Dad kept her fed and watered. Kenley loves her Grandpa Bert! On Friday, we had a fun (and delicious) dinner with friends at Chris and John...

12 Months + 2 Weeks: Portland in a Day!

Image
Hi hi! This weekend we celebrated Bert and Dorothy's 60th wedding anniversary - wow! We traveled down to Portland with Grandpa Bert (II) for the big celebration - an old fashioned ice cream social! It was great to see everyone and Kenley had a great time at the party. Here she is getting the lay of the land. Grandpa Bert feeding Kenley ice cream (of course). The happy couple. Amazing delicious cupcakes made by Elie! Polka dancing, of course! Very excited. Four generations of Brehm-Kings! Good friends. Kenley loved Great Grandpa Bert and kept going to him to be picked up! We found toys! Josie read this fabulous poem she wrote, while Elie spoke about the year 1950. Amazing photos from the big day! A buncha Brehms. These great aunts are pretty great! Very fun. Kenley had a pretty good first week at day care- she is settling in and getting used to her new friends and teachers. She apparently loves circle time (stories and songs) and going outside! Another friend is 14 months old an...

Grandma Karin and Papa Richard Visit!

Image
Things were so crazy with the birthday party, etc., I did not have a chance to blog about our visitors last week - Grandma Karin and Papa Richard! They were in town from Connecticut after a stop in South Dakota to see James, Tiffany, and the boys. The first order of business was assembling the gift they (and Uncle Ryan) sent - a three-sided kitchen/playhouse! Kenley had so much fun spending time with her grandparents while Mommy and Daddy went to work (since she was off of day care for the week). They played with the kitchen, ate oatmeal, went to the zoo, and participated in an autism study at the University of Washington (as a non-autistic subject, don't worry!). Papa Richard taught Kenley to "check the mail" and Grandma Karin taught her all kinds of new songs. Other Seattle-type activities during their visit involved Red Robin, a baseball game, etc! They were so much fun and so helpful, everyone was sad when it was time to leave!

First Day of New Day Care!

Image
Hi everyone! Kenley started her new day care on Tuesday! It is so close we can walk! Of course it has been raining, so we had to wear our raincoats. And, Kenley was able to try out her new backpack Bebe and Grandpa Bert gave her for her birthday! So far it has been going great. Her teachers report that she is generally happy and has been exploring the whole place. She is the youngest kid, although there are others less mobile than she is. We hope she'll love it! (Sorry for the fuzzy pic).

Hi everyone! Here are some photos from last weekend - we celebrated Kenley's birthday with Bebe and Grandpa Bert on Orcas Island (We got to go to Chelsea and Jamie's wedding in Eastsound)!
