23 Weeks: Into the 6th Month and We are Busy!

Image
5 months down, 4 months to go! It is officially spring here and everything is growing - including Peanut! Here is the latest belly pic. And notice our beautiful cherry tree in full bloom! The garden has finally popped up - we should have a lot of peas in the near future! Miles came to visit this weekend. He and Michael spent a lot of time boys being boys. MK has to pack in the boy fun before Baby Girl shows up! I think is also relieved to be with someone who doesn't talk baby 24/7. :-x. On Saturday Rachel went to her last "law school prom." Here's a picture with the crew - we "prefunked" with thai food before we headed to the Canal. Here's a pic of Rachel 'n Peanut all ready for the prom. Finally, here are my totally awesome garage sale finds - a pack 'n play and a jogging stroller! Also, a special thanks to Rachel's college roomie Michelle, who sent "The Lorax" to initiate Peanut's education on environmental issues in h...

Work Update

Just a quick update on my work: I talked to my judge's chambers today and confirmed that I will start work on November 23, as long as I promise to bring the baby in for a lunch before that! Very happy to have that settled! I may have sacrificed taking any time off at the holidays, but we'll see how it works out. Michael will then be able to stay home with Peanut from there until hopefully January or February.

22 Weeks: Centering and Ultra Sound Results

Hello everyone! We just got back from Centering, where we heard Baby's heartbeat, measured Rachel's belly, and had some good discussion about cord blood donation, what the birth experience will be like, and breastfeeding. We also received our official test results from our ultrasound: everything is normal! Peanut's anatomy looks great and the placenta and everything is in the right place. She is a little big (out of an average 100 babies arranged from smallest to biggest, she would be the 76th baby). But our midwife said the range in size in those 100 babies would only be one ounce, so its nothing to worry about. The ultra sound predicted our due date to be August 25, so a few days after our expected August 23 date. Hopefully that means August 8 is still safe! Other than that, not much to report. Michael just got back from Connecticut and is immediately off working in Olympia and Vancouver overnight. Peanut and Rachel are finally getting some Vitamin D now that the sun has ...

21 Weeks: Peanut Goes to Portland!

Image
Hi everyone! We are at 21 weeks! Here's the news - after spending a day shopping in Seattle with Mom, we headed to Portland for Grandma Brehm's 80th Birthday and Michal's first Bridal Shower. We arrived home last night and this morning we went for our follow up ultra sound to see if they could get a better picture of Peanut's heart. She was still being stubborn and a little feisty - every time the lab tech was close to getting the right picture she would wiggle again! I think she finally was able to get the pic, but we'll see. After a few more shots and a little more fun watching her wiggle around, the tech finally wrapped up. We'll get our results at Centering group next Tuesday. MK is leaving tomorrow for a week in Connecticut to see the fam - we'll see how I do without him! Here's a few highlights from the weekend!

Its a Girl!

We had our twenty-week ultrasound today! Michael, Michal, Mom and I all went together since Mom is in town and Michal is on Spring Break - the tech looked a little nervous when she saw us all about to parade in. The ultrasound went really well - we got to check out all of Peanut's fingers and toes and others parts and she appears to be healthy and growing at just the right pace, all though we won't receive final word on the results for a few days. We learned Peanut weighs 12 ounces! And of course, we found out that Peanut is a girl! She is now officially "Miss Peanut." She was wiggling and waving, which was very fun to watch but irritating for the tech who was trying to take photos of her. She was in the wrong position to take photos of her heart, so we will go back on Monday and hope she will have flipped so we can get some snaps. Michal and Mom, already the very prepared Aunt and Grandmother, gave us a gender appropriate gift in celebration! Our first baby girl outf...

20 Weeks - Half Way There?

Image
Tomorrow we hit the 20 week mark! We finally had sun today so we celebrated with a long drive out to Sammamish, Snoqualmie Falls, North Bend, and back. Here are a few quick shots. I am still feeling good except tired and starting to eat like crazy! Although more crazy as in very often rather than very much. We are counting down the days until our Thursday ultra sound! Then we are off to Portland for Michal's shower and to celebrate Grandma Dorothy's 80th Birthday - we'll see all the Brehms plus some of our favorite Gedneys too! Hopefully we will have all good news from the ultra sound to report to everyone during our trip (and of course on the blog, so don't read the blog next week if you don't want to know the sex!). Thanks also to Christina and John for the cutie cute Peanut outfit they brought back from Vancouver BC last week!
