Happy Six Months Kenley!!

Image
Wow! Kenley is 6 months old today! I can't believe it, it feels like a big milestone. She has grown a bunch and become a little person - very far from the little alien baby we brought home from the hospital. It doesn't seem that long ago! I think we are (maybe?) finally used to the idea of being parents now. Today also marks our accomplishment of a big goal - we have made it six months feeding her only breastmilk and homemade baby food. No formula!- we hope to continue as long as possible. Here's our traditional pink bear comparison - wow! We're not sure how big she is, Kenley has a doctor's appointment at the end of the week. But she looks big! She got avocado for breakfast in celebration, then we went and hung out with Aunt Michal and Uncle Jason! How did you get under that chair? Kenley has learned to push herself backwards! You'll see it in action in the video below - she scooted almost four feet back from Michael. Oof! In celebration, we spent the week...

Happy Birthday Bebe (and Aunt Cathie)!

Kenley wanted to send a little message.... Happy Birthday Bebe! Happy Birthday to Aunt Cathie too! I love you almost as much as I love eating this paper. :)

5 Months + 3 Weeks

Hi everyone! First of all, by popular demand, here are some photos of Mom and Dad's likely house, assuming everything goes well! Closing will hopefully be on March 18! I can't remember if I said, its in Mill Creek, so about 10 minutes from Michal and Jason's house -yippee! Here's one interior pic - the dining room and living room! Kenley this week has been working on sitting up and inching toward crawling. We also have been feeding new foods - last week she had butternut squash, and this week its pear and apples! Which, by the way, is delicious, I'm going to start making myself a bowl. We had great weather this week, so we were outside a lot, walking greenlake, playing in the yard, and even have lunch outside with friends! Kenley LOVES being outside, and so do we!! We have also taught her "Itsy Bitsy Spider" - finally something new so we can take a break from "do re mi." Hopefully the hand motions will help us with project sign language - we are...

President's Day Video!

Here is a video of some shots from this weekend, including our little cabin, Kenley in the snow, Michal and Jason having a snowball fight, etc! Notice Kenley sitting up by herself! Also, the last clip is of her trying so hard to crawl! Sorry if the video is a little random. :)

5 months + 2 weeks - Valentines Day in Leavenworth!

Image
Happy Valentines Day! We had a fantastic Presidents Day weekend in Leavenworth with the Friesen clan! Here are some miscellaneous photos from the weekend! We arrive in Leavenworth - check out the mountains! Head straight for German food at Andreas Keller! Kenley's first high chair - she did great! Mini beers are for mamas. No beer for babies! We spent the afternoon in Leavenworth and then headed to our cabins to meet the other Friesens! Happy Valentines Day! Family kisses! Kenley's Leavenworth-ing outfit - Oma is the best! Kenley's first snow! Playing with Aunt Michal! What IS this stuff? Valentines day dinner with daddy. Much love this valentine's day! I'll post a video of the weekend shortly! Great valentine's day news - Mom and Dad had an offer accepted on a house in Mill Creek! If all goes well, they should close this time next month - then begins the great migration - westward ho! We are very excited.

Another First - First Sick Day

Image
Kenley had a little stomach thing this week, so we stayed home from daycare on Thursday. Kenley learned that the best thing about being sick is you get to stay in your pajamas all day long! Meanwhile Michael and I had what I understand is a classic parenting conversation: who needs to go to work the most? Guess who lost. She says, "I'm better now!" Thanks to everyone who sent valentines day cards! Here's a video of us opening the card from Bebe and Grandpa Bert. We are off to Leavenworth this weekend with the Friesen clan, hopefully to see some snow and eat some German food! Will post pictures when we return, meanwhile happy valentines day/3 day weekend everyone!!

5 Months + 1 week - Our little "Sweet Potato Pie"

Image
Hi everyone! As you probably know, Mom and Dad (and everyone else in DC) got quite a bit of snow this weekend! Here's what 24 inches at mom and dad's house in Maryland looks like. Meanwhile, here's what Seattle looked like! Kenley even had to bust out her sunglasses for our walk at Greenlake! (Ok, they were silly and we didn't wear them very long. But its a funny picture). Family photo. "Hello daddy!" Kenley loves walking at Greenlake. Little miss chatterbox decided to squeak and yell the whole time at the folks walking by, drawing more than one stare. In news for this week, Kenley's first week at daycare was a great success! Her teachers say she did great with very little fussing. Drop offs and pick ups went smoothly, and once the teachers got into the feeding schedule, everything went just as we'd hoped. Kenley seems to love spending her days with the other babies, and has lots to say during the car ride home (squeak squeak squeak). On Friday, she...
